Advanced functions of the UBIK phone

The following guide introduces the advanced features of UBIK telephones. This guide primarily applies to phones in the Cisco SPA 500 series.

Anonymous calls

You can make anonymous calls to hide your business name and phone number.

  • Using the Star Code :

    Press *67 before dialling the number. For example, dial *674182661727.
  • Using the Anonym. button :

    Press Anonym. before dialling. The operator will ask what number you want to dial.

Changing the screen contrast

To adjust the contrast of the LCD screen:

  • Press the Setup button, scroll to LCD Contrastand press Select.
  • Use the navigation button to adjust the screen contrast. Press the Left navigation button to decrease the contrast and the Right navigation button to increase it.
  • Press Save.

Changing the screen’s back light settings

The screen’s back light automatically goes dark after a specific period of time. You can change this period or make it so that the back light never turns off.

  • Press the Setup button.
  • Scroll to Back Light Timer and press Edit.
  • Press Option repeatedly to view the available options:

    • 10 seconds
    • 20 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • always on
  • Press OK.
  • Press Save.

Changing the ring tone

To change a ring tone:

  • Press the Setup button.
  • Select Ring Type.
  • Select the extension for which you want to select a ring tone and press Edit.
  • Scroll through the ring tones and press Play to hear the highlighted ring tone. Press Select to assign the highlighted ring tone to the extension.

Recording a call

The call recording feature lets you record a telephone conversation, even if the call is already in progress.

  • Using the star code:

    • Before starting the call:
      • Press *70 followed by #.
      • The operator will prompt you to dial the number you want to call.
  • If the call is already in progress:

    • Press *70.
    • You’ll hear a “beep” which means recording has started.
  • Hang up to end the call and the recording.
  • In the minutes following the end of the call, you’ll receive an email inviting you to download the audio file of the recorded conversation.

    • The email will be sent to the address associated with the phone from which the recording was started.
